Journal 5: Reflections on Friendship

Dear Pupils,

We had celebrated International Friendship Day last Friday at school and I would like you to write your reflection on the theme of Friendship.

The following are the things that you can write about:-
1) What do think a true friend should be like?
2) Do you think it is important to have friends? Why or why not?
3) How do you think you can build strong friendship with others?
4) Do you know why it is important for a country like Singapore to be friendly with other countries?
5) Did you enjoy the activities during our school International Friendship Day? Which activities did you enjoy most? Why?
6) What other activities do you think can be included in the International Friendship Day celebration next year?

Please be reminded that one or two lines are not adequate as reflection. Do put some thoughts into it. It would be most interesting if you could include some photographs in your post. Hope to read your reflection soon.

Warmest Regards
Mr Owen Lau

Hello Mr Lau! (first to post again)

1)I think a true friend is one who doesn't leave his/her friend when he/she is in trouble and always helps his/her friends when they need help.

2) Yes. You will be bored at school as no friends will hang out with you during recess, nobody will remind what homework you have (My friends and I communicate by SMS and we tell each other what is today's homework but somehow I still forget it!)and nobody to talk to. You will feel like you are the only one in the world. A friend is like water, you practically cannot survive without them.
3)You have to be a friend first in order for people to befriend you. If you are rude/unkind to people, they will most likely not befriend you.
4)I am not very sure but if we do not forge a good friendship with other countries, there will be mistrust/misunderstandings and it will result in wars and riots. It is something like Racial Harmony Day.
5)(Mr lau you did not put 5!) Not really because there is only the martial arts show. Maybe they should put more activities. I like the Wushu part in the martial arts show. The man hitting the spear on the floor is like a mini earthquake! The thing that bothers me is that everybody kept kneeling down, blocking my vision of the show.
6)Maybe they could invite some pupils from other countries to maybe describe their people there, what are their customs and more...

Happy International Friendship Day everybody!

(Are we supposed to put it here or on our blog? To back up , its on my blog too.)

Hi Mr Lau ,(second here):-))
as i celebrated International
Friendship day i found out that
different country's have different types of martial arts.
1)i think a friend should be someone who cares about one another and not dump him/her away when him/her is in trouble like i say a friend in need is a friend in deed!
2)
Yes it is important to have friends but not one who ignores you at times. If you have no friends at school you will be miserable and lonely but however sometimes is good to have no friends no body will come to pester him/her and can concentrate on our own work.(i usually communicate my best buddy by SMS and remind him about homework but sometimes i still missed out some thats why i sometimes forget to do your assign work.theres good as well as bad for friendship.
3)I think i can build a strong friendship with others by being good to them and not always argue over small matters.WE can also help him/her in danger in terms of bullying, like me as a prefect should do his/her part to build strong friendship. Its mainly the point when you are rude or unkind to someone him/her will absolutely be foes and not friends.
4)Our nation may be small but we must not be too proud of our success we must stay humble to ensure the surrounding country's will not attack us.We still lack of natural resource and need the some other country for help like Malaysia to provide water for us but now we have NEWATER.We have not enough land to grow crops and rice
so will still need Thailand to provide us with the rice.So i think it is very important to maintain
good friendship with our fellow friends.
5)Yes i enjoyed myself tremendously.I enjoyed WUSHU the most. The act was certainly eye catching it seems fun to play with
the swords and other props. The history of WUSHU was very interesting!
6)Not very sure.Maybe we could have a group of students from Asia to introduce their culture and many more...!

Hello Mr lau,
I think a true friend who helps one another when they are in trouble and sometimes when you are bored or sad you can talk to your best friend or you can just take out your handphone and message him or her but first in order to have a friend you must be one and than you can have one or maybe sometimes when you forget your homework you can ask them
