Dear Students,
After Total Defence Day and our excursion to Bukit Chandu and Old Ford Factory, you must have heard and read about local heroes and heroines such as Lim Bo Seng, Adnan Nin Saidi and Elizabeth Choy.
Do you know what it takes to be a hero or heroine? What do you think are the qualities of a hero and heroine? Must you have superpowers to be one? Do you have a hero or heroine that you idolize? Do share with me and your classmates in the blog. Tell me why you like him or her. Please note that you are to write not less than 100 words.
Warmest Regards
Mr Lau

I think a hero does not really need superpowers, he must have a good heart and not helping the bad guy ( if not he will be called a bad hero) . My hero is my father because he "rescues" me from all sorts of danger and teaches me along the way.I think Lim Bo Seng is a good hero too, as in order not to reveal the secrets of Force 136 , he sacrificed his life. Elizabeth Choy , Leftenant Adnan Bin Saidi are also World War 2 Heroes (and Heroines) I hope everybody can be a "superhero" next time and help people in need!
Sorry there is a spelling error. It should be "Lieutenant" not "Leftenant"

Ghost Boy (Me!)
to me i think a hero does not really superpowers ,but instead must have a brave heart and a good one too.he must not help the baddies.to me my nomination for a hero will be my dad .Why , he will rescue me from 'danger',teaches mly the road towards good.anther hero will be Lim Bo Seng ,he never revealed anything about Force136 ,and for that he got killed . he was really abrave man .so this is what a hero isn aperson who is brave
Hi Everyone,
for me, my only hero is GOD....because he has been the one who helped me in my life. For an example: He has brought me into a christian home, hae provided me with my needs...and even helped me with my education!
I think what it takes to be a hero is courage and sacrifice: like how GOD had sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Why i say that GOD is my hero is because when we do wrong, God will encourage us instead of scolding us.
Thanks
I think a real hero does not need super powers but a good heart.A real hero will help anybody who needs help.My hero is my mother because she helped me in many ways.I still remember when i was in nursary my mother helped me in a sorts of trouble. There was a time when she helped me from getting scolded by the teacher because i did not do my homwork. It was my mother who helped me at the last minute.I also regard my father as a hero because if there is any trouble about fights or injuries he will help find out who is the person who started the fight. There was a time iwhen i was in K1 i got into a fight. It was my father who helped me solve the fight. My mother and father are real heros and i am very proud of them even though they do not have any superpowers.
Hi , I am Aloysius . I like Happy Tree Friends , A hero is a person with courage and fight for justice.
For example during the world war 2 , Lim Bo Seng was caught as a anti-japanese . The japanese tortured him but him refused to tell infomation about his hideout and died a terible fate . But now we are proud of him . If he had told some infomation about the anti-japanese group , I don't know what Singapore will be now .
i think that a hero is someone that does not need super power but is someone thathelps people alot!i think mark is like a hero because he help me alot!he is someone who is very friendly.he always is ready to help people. But i think that every one can be a hero!
I think a hero is a person who helps people and fight for justice.
I also think that people will respect heroes such as the malay regiments.During world war 2 the japanese attack Singapore and one of the places in Singapore is Bukit Chandu and on top of bukit chandu were the malay regiment. After the fight of Bukit Chandu the japanese asked the malay regiment to surrender but they refused to.So even though u dont have superpower u can still be a hero.So Rest In Peace the malay regiment and u will always be Singapore's heroes.
A hero like Lim Bo Seng,is greatful to the country because he helped poeple train during army. When the japanese captured some of the force 136, (including him) the japanese soldiers tortured and whacked him. And forced him to tell them about the force 136. But he still said ''no'' although how much they whacked and beaten him up. It was really greatful when he offered food to the prisoners of war(POWs). Many people appreciated his great sacrifice for the country. And that is called a hero to me. It does'nt mean a hero must have super-powers. Even though Lim Bo Seng did not use any super-powers,but he still gave a big sacrifice for the country,Singapore! I really apprectiate his greatfulness and his big sacrifce for the country.
Posted from Meryl. Have a niceday! =D
I think that hero should not be always killing but they should be helping people when people need help.In my heart my mother and father is the best hero!because when i need help in my work they will be the first to rescues me .To singapore, Lim Bo Seng will a very good hero because in order not to reveal the secrets he sacrificed his life.We should be very happy that war is over and peace had come!!!
my hero is my father because he take care of me when i am ill and help me what my homework and eveyday play fishing he a hero in my eye and in my borthers and sisther eye too, my neigheour think he is kind and careing too, all my neigheour thinks he is kind my borthers and sister love and i love him too i hope pople like it bye bye
I do not think that a super hero needs superpower. I think that a real superhero is a guy like Lim Bo Seng.Lim Bo Seng is being tortured by the japanese to reveal the information about forces 136 but he did not tell any information to the japanese. He was then threw back to the jail.Soon later , he got a disease, he gave his food to his friends. After a while he died, his body was then throw into Macrithce Resiover.
Actually Mr Lau,a hero or a heroine does not need to have superpowers. The most important thing is,they must have courage, just like Adnan Bin Saidi,he was willing to die for Singapore.Even though he is from the Malay Regiment,he still care for Singapore. As for Elizabeth Choy, she has the courage to sufffered the water torture and 'eletric shock' that she gotten from the Japanese during the Japanese Occupation.Lim Bo Seng,is the person who created the Force 136.He was a kind man also because when he was captured by the Japanese soldiers,he was thrown into a cell which there were about 10 to 20 prisoners,Lim Bo Seng was often seen sharing his food with the rest of the prisoners in the tiny cell. The Japanese wanted him to tell them about Force 136 but he refused to tell them. The Japanese soldiers have no choice but kept tortuing him but he still refused to tell them.Mr Lau,we should really appreciate their defence for Singapore.Mr Lau,do you agree?
A hero is someone that saves people in danger.i dont think a super hero needs superpowers
to save people.the showes that we watch on television are just fantasys real superheros cannot fly.Lieutanant Adnan Bin Saidi,Lim Bo Seng and Elizabeth Choy suffered terribly for the future of Singapore.I believe that what Lieutenant Adnan BIn Siadi said is very heroic "We fight in our uniform die in our uniform".I also believe that we should respect Lim Bo Seng and Elizabeth Choy and not make fun of his name like some people.
My favourite hero is my mother and father, they both brought me up with their flesh and blood! I should respect them as i respect the heros who died in WORLD WAR 2.
regards

After going to Bukit Chandu,Old Ford Factory and watching the skit at school,I feel that, you don't need super powers to be a hero. For example,Lim Bo Seng,Elizabeth Choy and Lieutenant Andan are world war 2 heroes without super powers. My favourite heroine of world war 2 is Eilizabeth Choy because she had to endure lots of pain without ever having have to tell anything, although she knows that if she lets go of a bit of information she will be let out of prison.I also like Lim Bo Seng because he alos had to endure a lot of pain protecting force 136.
Hi everyone!
My hero is Lieutenant Adnan saidi.Mr.Saidi was born at Kajang, Selangor and was a Muslim of Minangkabau descent. He was the eldest in his family. His younger siblings, Ahmad Saidi and Amarullah Saidi were soldiers as well.Mr.Ahmad was killed in action after his ship, the HMS Pelanduk, was sunk by the Japanese route to Australia. Amarullah survived the war and he now resides in Kajang, Selangor.Adnan led a 42-strong platoon from the Malay Regiment in the defense of Singapore against the Japanese invaders. The soldiers fought at the Battle of Pasir Panjang, at Pasir Panjang Ridge in the Bukit Chandu (Opium Hill) area on February 12-14, 1942. Although heavily outnumbered, Adnan refused to surrender and urged his men to fight until the end. They held off the Japanese for two days amid heavy enemy shelling and shortages of food and ammunition. Adnan was shot but carried on fighting. After the battle was lost, the wounded Adnan was taken prisoner by Japanese soldiers, who tied him to a rubber tree and bayoneted him to death.I think he is a hero! He fought to the very end.He is a real hero, sacrificing his life to help others. His story usually bring tears to my eyes whwnever I hear his story.
A hero is a good samaritan who helps the good guy and save people .Like Superman,Spiderman and so many other heroes.I think Lim Bo Seng is one of the good hero during World War II, he sacrificed his life. Leftenant Adnan Bin Saidi and Elizabeth Choy are also heroes of World WarII(Heroines). My hero is my father too. He helps me when i have difficulty.
A hero or a heroine is someone who have a good heart and do good deeds all the time. A hero or a heroine does not need to have superpowers to be a hero. My hero in my heart is my family members. They would help me when i need help espeacially my Father. He can help me to solve problems that i do not know and he would do his the best he can be to help me. When i am upset, my family members would console me and they would help me when i am in trouble. I hope that i could be great hero in the future and i hope that everyone could be a hero too.:D
Actually,I really do not have a hero... ...But I think that my parents are... ...
my hero is actually the war heroes. It is because they are willing to die for singapore to defend singapore at bukit chandu. The best war hero that i like is Adnan.when the japenese asked him to take off his uniform, he refused to so he was stabbed.poor guy.Now i know that to be a hero is so hard.To be a hero ,you need to helped your country.
A hero is a person that is brave and courageous.it is just like Elizabeth Choy... to me, she is the world war 2 survivor and also have saved many lives. she also went through many tortures, like the water treatment and the electric shock which she had to suffer and sacrifice alot to the country. if i was at the world war 2, i would have died... i feel that she is a very brave woman. i havent seen a woman as brave as her. i really apprieciate her brave act, suffering and sacrificing for Singapore. i wish everybody can be like Elizabeth Choy. she is a great role model for all of us to learn from. a hero do not need to survive after the war. Lim Bo Seng was a hero that died during the war but save alot of lives. a hero does not to have super powers. Lim Bo Seng and Elizabeth Choy does not have super powers but they are still heroes to me. i hope everyone can apprieciate the suffers and great sacrifice that they have gone through for our country, Singapore. BYE!!!

It does not mean that if you have superpowers you are a hero.I think to be a hero,he or she needs to have a smart brain for good thinking of what to do next, good heart and a helping hand.My hero is from the torturous past of Singapore during the World WarII.His name was Lieutenant Adnan Bin Saidi. From my point of view,he was the greatest hero in Singapore's history. He sacrificed his life for the honor of his country.I wish everyone will act like him if Singapore faces any war troubles again.

Surabhi:)
I don't think that being a hero or a heroine needs superpowers or anything. All you need is courage. Some heroes even died because they wanted to save other people.like,Lim Bo Seng and Adnan Nin Saidi.when you save a drowning person, you are a hero. When a doctor saves a dying person, they are a hero. The firefighters and the civil defence group are heroes too when they save people.i think we should respect the heroes.

Hi everybody,
I think that a hero is a regular peson who helps people with their troubles and they do not need to have super powers, for example,Superman, spiderman and many more you see from the movies.Plus, heroes can be your parents or your relatives. For example, police and much more you see in person. Now they are real heroes.
A hero or heroine to me is a person who is brave and courageous to sacrifice themselves...One of the person i treat as a heroine is Elizabeth Choy, she was a brave lady which sacrifice for our country, Singapore. She was tortured by the japanese using water treatment and electric shock, but still she did not die, she was the survivor. She did a big and great sacrifice and that made her be my idol. i think she is very important to the singaporeans. Elizabeth Choy was the survivor of World War Two(2).I think that, if i am Elizabeth Choy i will very proud of myself as Elizabeth Choy did a very very brave and courageous thing that every singaporean would admire and one of the admirer is me. After saying all about Elizabeth Choy, this journal made a phrase " No Sacrifice, No Victory!"I hope you guys will also admire Elizabeth Choy, she gave a big and great sacrificeto our country, Singapore!!!XD
Cheryl Chan Ping Hui!!!(^o^)
A hero is someone who is very good at alot things.A Hero must be brave and got courage. My hero is SINGAPORE soilder because when WWII,the SINGAPORE soilder fight win JAPAN in WWII.I wish to be a "superhero"and help alot of people in need and be a very famous people in SINGAPORE.
I think everyone can be a hero as long as you love your country and be true and loyer to your mates. The hero I look up to is Lieutenant Adnan Saidi as he sacrificed his life for us fellow singaporeans.he and the other soldiers of the malay regiment. They fought bravely during the japenese occupation.when we went to the Old Fort Factory to watch the animation film,I felt like crying as he died so cruely. As he had brougt peace to Singapore,I hope that war would never come to Singapore as all of our fellow Singaporeans and our ansestor's effort would be wasted
Hi Everyone,I think being a hero or heroine is a person who saves ordinary people from danger, harm or trouble. If you want to be a superhero or heroine, you must have a good heart not a bad heart and it is not nessecary to have superpowers to save people. You must not save the bad people but you must save the good people. That's for all now.Bye!
I think a hero/heroine is a person that saves the day. A true hero/heroine would serve justice to his or her country. Being a hero/heroine comes with great responsiblity. If you ask me, my hero is my heart. It is because I follow my heart. My heart will guide me to a correct path of life.
I think a hero is a person who is willing to sacrifice his or her live to save others.A hero doesn't have to have superpowers but a good heart. My hero is my mother because she cheers me up when i am sad ,she alaways guides along the way .Even though my mother deosn't have superpowers she is still a true hero in my heart.I Think Lim Bo Seng,Elizabeth Choy and Lieutenant Adan Bin Saidi were true heroes.
Thank you
i think a hero is to help people when they need help and not every super heros need power to save people.Just like Lim Bo Seng,he don't have any super powers but he sacrificed his life by not revealing the secrets of Force 136.For me,my hero is my mother, she worked very hard just to give me good life.i hope everyone will appreciate that our parents worked so hard for us...We should strive for good results in order to make them happy.i will try my best to get good results.
