Journal 4: Total Defence Day Competition

Hi Everyone,

The school is holding an intra-level blogging competition in conjunction with Total Defence Day 2009. This year's theme is "What will you defend?"

Details of the competition are found in the above Powerpoint slides. Click on each slide and read the details yourself. Make your blog as beautiful, meaning and creative as possible. You can add photos, videos, etc to your blog.

The dateline for this Total Defence blog entry to me is on Friday, 6 February 2009.

I will be submitting the best blogs to Mr Yazid by Wednesday, 11 February 2009.

For your info (extracted from http://www.whatwilludefend.sg/):In commemorating 25 years of Total Defence, the logo has been given a tweak to stay in tune with a more modern feel while retaining its familiar identity. The tagline "It's Personal. Play your Part." is in a handwritten font that emphasises the personal nature of our involvement in Total Defence, reminding Singaporeans that everyone has a role in protecting the Singaporean way of life. The rounder edges of the logo give it a softer touch, reflecting the personal stake in Total Defence and encouraging Singaporeans to embrace Total Defence in their daily lives.

Hope to read your blog soon.

Warmest Regards
Mr Lau

Journal 3: Our School's Vision, Mission and Values

Dear Saint Knights,

Our principal, Mr Tan spoke about our school's vision, mission and values on the first day of school. In this week's reflection, I would like you to show me whether you remember the school's vision, mission and values and to give your views about them. To help with your reflection, I have listed some questions below:
1. What are the school's vision, mission and values?
2. What do you think of the school's vision, mission and values?
3. Do you believe in the school values? If 'yes' or 'no', why?
4. Do students think of the school values when engaging in activities in school or outside? If so, how?
5. How can you, as students, live up to the school values?
6. What activities do you think the teachers can organise in class and in school to help students learn the values?

I look forward to reading your views soon.

Warmest Regards
Mr Lau

Journal 2: Back to School

Dear Saint Knights,

By now, you would have spent a week in school. At this point of time, I would like to find out how you feel about school. Are you used to some changes in school so far?
What are the changes do you think are good and what are some changes that are not so good? Do you have any suggestion?

Please also let me know if you find any change the way your parents treat you at home now that you are a Primary 6 pupil now. You may share with me any challenge you face. Hope to hear from you soon.

Warmest Regards
Mr Owen Lau

Journal 1: New Year Resolution

Dear Students,

Welcome back from your vacation break! As it is the new year, it is a good time to reflect on the changes we want or need to make. So I like you to share with me on your first journal your new year resolution for 2009 and what you can do to achieve your goal. Also I would like you to share with me what you have done during the December holiday break. I am sure some of you would have interesting stories to tell. I look forward to your posting.

Warmest Regards
Mr Owen Lau
