Journal 8: Believing in Yourself
Dear Saint Knights,
For this week's journal, I like to talk about the topic on self-belief. This is a follow-up after watching the Star Wars movie clip and the movie about Roger Bannister, the man who ran a mile (about 1.6km)in less than 4 minutes. Basically, I like to hear your thoughts? You may want to answer the following guiding questions:-
1) How did you feel after watching the clips?
2) What have you learnt from the clips?
3) Do you agree that it is important to believe in oneself? Why or why not?
4) Do you believe that you have the power to create a miracle? Tell me what you will do to achieve your goals
May the Force (of Believing in Yourself) be With You!
Regards
Owen

Journal 7: Activities Outside School
Hi Everyone,
Many pupils are involved in lessons outside school. They include tuition, music, art, ballet, swimming, Sinda classes, religious lessons and so on. There are just too many activities for me to list them. For this week's journal writing, I would like you to reflect on your involvement in all the activities outside school. To help you with your writing, I have listed some questions below:
1. What are the activities you are involved in outside school from Monday to Sunday?
2. How many days do you spend on these activities?
3. How many hours do you spend in each of these activities?
4. Why are you involved in these activities?
5. Do you think these activities are necessary for you? If 'Yes', how have these activities help you? If 'No', why are you taking part in these activities?
6. Do you think these activities affect your school work/studies? If so, how?
7. Do you feel stressed with all these activities? Explain.
7. In your opinion, do you think pupils should be involved in outside school activities? Why?
Hope to read you reflection soon.
Regards

We have set our targets for the various subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science and Mother Tongue. For this week, I would like you to reflect on this exercise. As usual, I will list some questions to help you with the reflection.
1. What is the purpose of setting targets for the various subjects?
2. Do you think this is useful? If 'Yes', why? If not, why?
3. How did you go about setting the targets for yourself?
4. What are you doing to help you achieve your target? Do you have a plan? If so, what is it?
5. How are your parents helping you achieve your targets?
6. What will you do to motivate yourself towards achieving the targets?
7. What do you think your teacher/the school can help you achieve the targets?
Waiting anxiously to read your response.
Best wishes

Journal 5: Festivals
Hi Saint Knights,
We are now celebrating Chinese New Year. This is one of the many festivals celebrated by the Chinese. The Malays, Indians and other races also celebrate their own festivals. For this week, I would like you to reflect on the meaning of these festivals and how we can preserve racial harmony in Singapore.
To help you with your reflection, I have listed some questions/pointers below:
1. Tell us about the festival you celebrate.
2. Why do you celebrate this festival?
3. How do you celebrate the festival?
4. Do you know what are the festivals celebrated by the other races? If so, could you name a few? Also tell us who celebrate them and why they celebrate them.
5. Do you think the celebration of the various festivals help in strengthening racial harmony among the various race in Singapore? If so, how?
6. In your opinion, how can we develop stronger bonds among the various races in Singapore?
7. If you have the freedom to come up with a new festival, what would you propose?
Looking forward to reading your reflection soon.

Journal 4: Total Defence Day Competition
Hi Everyone,
The school is holding an intra-level blogging competition in conjunction with Total Defence Day 2009. This year's theme is "What will you defend?"
Details of the competition are found in the above Powerpoint slides. Click on each slide and read the details yourself. Make your blog as beautiful, meaning and creative as possible. You can add photos, videos, etc to your blog.
The dateline for this Total Defence blog entry to me is on Friday, 6 February 2009.
I will be submitting the best blogs to Mr Yazid by Wednesday, 11 February 2009.
For your info (extracted from http://www.whatwilludefend.sg/):In commemorating 25 years of Total Defence, the logo has been given a tweak to stay in tune with a more modern feel while retaining its familiar identity. The tagline "It's Personal. Play your Part." is in a handwritten font that emphasises the personal nature of our involvement in Total Defence, reminding Singaporeans that everyone has a role in protecting the Singaporean way of life. The rounder edges of the logo give it a softer touch, reflecting the personal stake in Total Defence and encouraging Singaporeans to embrace Total Defence in their daily lives.
Hope to read your blog soon.
Warmest Regards
Mr Lau

Journal 17: Vandalism and Littering
Dear Students,
The next topic is on littering and vandalism. The school belongs to all of us. It is our common property. Hence, it is important to keep the common places clean. One way I do it is to remind myself 'Think of the next user. Let me keep it clean so that the next person can use it too'. I hope you can reflect on littering and vandalism in your own blog. As usual, to help you along, I will list some questions:
1. What is 'littering' and 'vandalism'? (Check the dictionary if you are not sure)
2. Do you know the difference?
3. Why do some children litter and vandalise?
4. How do you feel when the place is littered or vandalised?
5. Have you seen places that are littered or vandalise? Where?
6. How can we stop littering and vandalism in the school?
7. What should we do to those who litter or vandalise?
Regards
Mr Owen Lau
